how far across the river does the water land?

on one of the banks f the chicago river, there is a water cannon, called the water arc, that sprays recirculated water across the rivr. the path of the water arc is given by the model y=0.006x^2+1.2+10 where x is the distance (in feet) across the river and y is the height f the arc (in feet)

It is not recommended to post the same question several times, since you may receive different answers per post, resulting in confusion.

It looks like your quadratic is missing the "x" variable on the middle term.
Is it supposed to be:  y = .006x2 + 1.2x + 10 ?
It looks like the cannon muzzle is 10ft above ground.
We want to know the x distance when y=0.

And actually, the quadratic, since the parabolic graph should open downward,
should be:  y = -.006x2 + 1.2x + 10
