Question

a cylindrical bottles holds 1 litre of oil. A second cylindrical bottle has the same height but twice the radius. It also contains oil. a) explain why these bottles are not similar. b) How much oil will the second bottle hold. PLEASE HELP!! xx

Dissimilar because the ratio of r to h (in first cylindrical CAN), is different from ratio of R to h, in second can, since R = 2h.

 

Volume of second can of oil will be four times that of the other can because of the effect R²=(2r)²=4r² (and all other factors of each volume, pi and h, are the same in both cases).
