a)
sin2 θ + sin θ - 2 = 0
(sin θ + 2)(sin θ - 1) = 0 FOIL
sinθ θ = -2 or sin = 1 zero product rule
Determine the value(s) of θ.
b)
sec2 θ - 4 = 0
(sec θ + 2)(sec θ - 2) = 0 difference of squares
sec θ = -2 or sec θ = 2 zero product rule
Determine value(s) of θ

You need to be familiar with the basic values on the unit circle.
a)
sin θ = 2, not possible, -1 > sin θ > 1
sin θ = 1, θ = π/2
b)
sec θ = 1/cos θ
-2 = 1/cos θ
-1/2 = cos θ
2π/3 = θ, 4π/3 = θ
2 = 1/cos θ
1/2 = cos θ
π/3 = θ, 5π/3 = θ
