So, as I understand it, the unfortunately named Acob is baking chocolate [cookies] and the full batch recipe requires 3/4 c of sugar, but Acob want only to make half a batch.
Therefore he will need to use only half of the 3/4 c of sugar. "HALF OF" means multiply by ½, so our problem is to calculate ½•¾.
The rule is "multiply the two denominators, and multiply the two numerators, and REDUCE to lowest terms:
Multiplying gives us 3/8, and no reduction is possible.
This multiplication-of-fractions rule might be a good one to remember for a while (meaning, forever!).
