Saying f(x) = x is just the same as saying y = x, which you probably recognize as being the equation of a line with slope (m) equal to one and which passes through the origin.
Similarly, think of g(x) as being y = x + 4.
Here the graph which is also a line with slope = m = 1, but with a y-intercept of 4.
So the graph of the two functions would be that of two parallel lines with slope 1, one of which [f(x)] passes through the origin and the second of which intercepts the y axis at 4.
