Wouldn't it be du = 16x7 dx ?

Farhad and I are both correct!  There are different ways to write derivative notations.  In Newton's notation, the apostrophe symbol (u') means the first derivative.  Your notation follows the Leibniz structure.  Although Leibniz notation is more common, either one is okay to use.
