c. How many of the presidents’ ages fall within one standard deviation of the mean?

The meaning of 'mean' is average; just compute the average of those ages.

 

If you are told to calculate the standard deviation, then I presume that you have the formula available to you. Your job is to put the numbers into the formula and do the calculations. You CAN use the calculator, just not the feature that gives "1-Var Stats."

 

You will find that mean (x-bar, or μ), is 57.83...

Furthermore, the standard deviation Sx will be 1.60
