Hi Nayeli.
Do you use the term FOIL at your school as a desciption of how to multiply these?
It stands for
F first
O outer
I inner
L last
This is how you multiply each pair.
(5y - 2)(3-2) = (5y - 2) (1) (Are you sure that should be (3 - 2) and not something with x's and/or y's?)
=5y -2
The (6y - 7) (y+3) =
First: 6y2
Outer: (6y)(3) = 18y
Inner: (-7)(y) = -7y
Last: (-7)(3) = -21
Putting these together we get:
6y2+18y-7y-21
Combine like terms
6y2+11y-21
Putting the first two multipliex terms together with these two multiplied terms, we get
5y - 2 + 6y2 +11y - 21
Combine the like terms here and get a final answer of
6y2 + 16y - 23
