x² - 9x + 8 = (x - 1)(x - 8) ≠ 0

x - 1 ≠ 0 ====> x ≠ 1 

x - 8 ≠ 0 ====> x ≠ 8 

The domain of the given function is all real numbers except 1 and 8 ,

or

(- ∞, 1) U (1, 8) U (8, + ∞)
