Six years ago the number of people in a certain country who subscribed to cellular phone service was 120,000. Today this number has increased to about 230,000. What is the percent? increase?

The percent change is given by the formula:  (new - old)/old,  then to make the decimal number a percent, mult by 100.

 

 

So yours would be:  (230,000 - 120,000) / 120,000

 

= 110,000/120,000

 

=0.91666666

 

As a percent this is 91.67%
