To flip y=x^2 around the x-axis, negate the entire right side of the equation. In this case, it would be y=—x2
To move it to the left or right, you must add something in with the "x". In this case, it would be (x+1) ("+" moves left, "—" moves right - I know, it is backwards).
To move it up or down, you have to add something "outside" of the x. In this case, it would be "—6". ("+" moves graph up, "—" moves graph down)
Putting this all together, y=—(x+1)2 — 6
