The Kree-mee Kra-zee Ice Cream Company wants to mix 5 gallons of vanilla ice cream worth $3.25 per gallon with 6 gallons of their special chocolate ice cream worth $5.25 per gallon to make an experimental party swirl. What is the price of a gallon of the mixture to the nearest cent?

First find the prices as given

5 gallons X $3.25=$16.25       6 gallons X $5.25=31.50

Now add the two  16.25 + 31.50=$47.75

 

That is the total for 11 gallons.  You want the price for 1 gallon.  Simply divide $47.75 by 11= $4.34
