Hi Slanders, point B is on the directed line segment, therefore, point B has the coordinates: (x, -2). All we have to do is find the x-coordinate of point B.
→ →
AP = 4/2 * PB
→
AP = (4.67 - (-2), -2 - (-2))= (6.67, 0)
→
PB = 4/2 * (x - 4.67, -2 - (-2)) = 2 * (x - 4.67, 0)
Substituting:
(6.67, 0) = 2 * (x - 4.67, 0)
Solve for x:
6.67 =2x - 9.33
Add 9.33 to both sides:
16 = 2x
Divide both sides by 2:
x = 8
Point B has coordinates: (8, -2)
