We can read p/3 as (1/3)p. If we ignore the p variable, and focus on the coefficient 1/3, we pick the expression that has coefficients that add up to or has a difference of 1/3.
Choice A has 1 - (2/3) = (3 / 3) - (2 / 3) = 1 / 3
Choice B also has the coefficient of 1/3.
