WOOD COSTS

Question

A cord of wood costs $120.00 and is enough wood to make a stack 8 feet long by 4 feet wide by 4 feet high. How much would a load of wood cost that makes a stack 12 feet long by 3 feet wide by 4 feet high?

The volume of wood for the $120 is 8*4*4 = 128 cubic feet.

 

your second pile has a volume of 12*3*4=144 cubic feet. 

 

so just set up a proportion.......120/128 = x/144.

 

Cross multiply, then divide to get x = $135
