x2 - 8x + 29 = 6
Subtract 6 from both sides:
x2 - 8x + 23 = 0
Using the quadratic formula:
x = (8 ± √ ((-8)2 - (4 * 23)) / 2
x = (8 ± √ (64 - 92)) / 2
x = (8 ± √ (-28)) / 2
x = (8 ± √ (4 * -7)) / 2
x = (8 ± 2√ (-7)) / 2
x = 4 ± √ (7i)
Answer:
x = 4 + √ (7i) and x = 4 - √ (7i)
