One way to find the factors of a quadratic equation where the coefficient of x2 is 1 is to find two numbers whose product is 8 and whose sum is 12
This can be done by trail and error i.e. product: 12x1 6x2 4x3 all are 12 Sum: 12+1,6+2,4+3 and only one of these combinations adds to 8 and that is 6 and 2
So now we can write x2+8x+12=(x+6)(x+2) which is the first part of the answer I can not make graphs on this site.
The roots are -6,-2 and axis of symmetry is at x=4
