Generally, "effect" is used as a noun and "affect" is used as a verb.
So you could say:
"I don’t want this to have an effect on my rejection rate"
or
"I don't want this to affect my rejection rate"
There are situations in which "effect" can be used as a verb but this is a good rule of thumb.
