I am an independent Math tutor.
suppose
your walking rate is x miles/hour
your jogging rate is 2x miles/hour
Time needed for 2 mile walking = t1
Time needed for 2 mile jogging = t2
write it in a ratio form
t1 /1 = 2 / x (equation 1)
t2/1 = 2/2x (equation 2)
total time spent for walking and jogging is 1 hour
t1 + t2 = 1 (equation 3)
add Equation 1 & 2
2/x +2/2x = t1+t2 =1
3/x = 1
x= 3 miles/hour ; walking speed
2x= 6 miles/hour; jogging speed
