f(x)=6-(x+8)+2x ... given

f(x)≤ 8

=>6-(x+8)+2x≤ 8

=>6-x-8+2x-6≤ 8-6 ................ subtracting 6 from both sides

=>x-8≤ 2 .................. adjusting operators and coefficients

=> x -8+8  ≤ 2+8 ................ adding 8 from both sides

=> x ≤6

 

                 x       |   x=6 |    x=3 |    x=0 |    x =-3| x = -6 

f(x)=6-(x+8)+2x |f(x)=8| f(x)=1 | f(x)=-2| f(x)=-5|f(x)= -8

 

The solution set (6,8), (3,1), (0,-2), (-3,-5) and (-6,-8).
