slope intercept form of x+3y=2 ?

 please help i dont understand this at all

              where m = slope    and b = y-intercept (the place where x=0)

 

x+3y=2             We must isolate y on the left side.

    3y=2 -x         Subtract x from both sides

     y = 2/3 -(1/3)x          Divide all terms by 3

 

    y = -(1/3)x + (2/3)       Make it look like y=mx+b

To get the slope-intercept form of the equation, just solve for y.

 

3y = -x + 2

 

  y = (-1 / 3)x + (2 / 3)

 

 

Slope = -1/3

y-intercept = (0, 2/3)
