A right triangle has height h and base h +8. Write an expression that represents the area of the triangle. Then calculate the are of a triangle with a height of 16 cm.

Area of a triangle is base times height.  Then divide the result by 2.

 

Area = [h(h + 8)] / 2

 

Area = (h² + 8h) / 2

 

 

Now plug in h=16 into the formula to find the area desired.
