The equation is in the slope intercept form, y = 5x + 10
The slope is 5 and the y-intercept is 10.
From this we can plot the line on a graph. Knowing that the y-intercept is 10 means the line crosses the y-axis at the point (0,10).
We have a slope of +5 (the coefficient of x). Slope is defined as the rise over the run, which means the change in y over the change in x, (y2-y2)/(x2-x1).
So from the point (0,10) we need to go up 5 and to the right 1. This will give us a point at (1,15). We can also plot another point, again beginning at the y-intercep, going down 5 and to the left 1. This will give us a point at (-1,5).
Since this is a line, we can just connect these three points and extend the line on either end.
A note about slopes:
a positive slope means up-right or down-left
a negative slope means up-left or down-right
Hope this has helped.
