Hi Melissa,
When something is traveling at a constant speed for several hours, say a car going 50 miles per hour and traveling for 3 hours, you would simply add the distance traveled each hour to get the total distance traveled.
This would be: 50 miles + 50 miles + 50 miles = 150 miles (50 miles for each hour traveled)
A simpler way to think about this would be 50 miles * 3 = 150 miles.
And so we can always think of the idea: SPEED x TIME = DISTANCE
Now to do it the opposite, knowing the distance and wishing to find out the speed, we would simply divide instead of multiply: SPEED = DISTANCE / TIME (we divided both sides by TIME from the line before)
In your case: 195 / 3 = 65
So 65 kilometers / hour
