So every hour, they're 100 miles apart.
500 ÷ 100 = 5
They will take 5 hours.

two cars depart at the same time traveling in opposite directions. The first car is running at 60 mph. The second car is running at 40 mph. How long have they been travelling when the distance between them is 500 miles
