 Please show me how to get the answer to this problem 5.9x=1.28=-27.04

Sonny, I'm guessing you probably meant to type:

 

5.9x + 1.28 = 27.04

 

in which case

 

5.9x = 27.04 - 1.28 = 25.76 

 

x = 4.366

 

If you meant to type 5.9x - 1.28 = 27.04

 

5.9x = 27.04 + 1.28 = 28.32

 

x = 4.8

I'm going to make an assumption that you meant to type:

 

     5.9X + 1.28  =  -27.04

             -  1.28      - 1.28    -1.28 added to both sides

 

   5.9x = -28.32

   5.9        5.9        note:  divide both sices by 5.9

 

     X   =  -4.8
