The rectangle shown has a perimeter of 36cm and an area of A=56cm² Its length is 6 more than twice its width. Write and solve a system of equation to find the dimensions of the rectangle.

width = w

 

perimeter = 2(2w+6) + 2w

 

= 36

 

 

4w + 12 + 2w = 36

 

6w = 24

 

w= 4

 

length = 2(4) + 6

 

= 14
