Set up a proportion.

 

1/5 bag: 1/8 jug = x bags: 1 jug

 

Cross-product property of proportions yields (1/8)x = 1/5.

 

Multiply each side of the equation by 8 to get x = 8/5 bags of oranges, or 1 3/5 bags or 1.6 bags.
