Do you want to learn Biology? You set the pace !
3x-Y= -3 (standard form)
a) change to slope intercept form by multiplying both side of the equation by -1 and solve for Y
(-1)(3x-y) = (-3)(-1)
- 3X + Y = 3
Y = 3X + 3 slope intercept form (y=mx +b)
Now from here you can see that the slope of the line = 3
Since now you have the slope and the point (4,-2), use the point slope form to solve the equation : m=3: X1=4: Y1=-2
Y - Y1 = m (X - X1)
plug in the values:
Y - (-2) = 3 (X - 4)
Y + 2 = 3x - 12
Y = 3x - 14
check: for x= 4
Y=3(4) - 14
Y= 12 - 14
Y = - 2
If you're looking for the equation of the line, then Y= 3x + 14
