if 1/2 was written as a friction with a denominator of 100 would the result be the same

Set up equivalent fractions as.....

 

1         x

--  =  -----

2      100

 

Now apply cross-multiplication, solve for "x".....

 

  2x=100

 ∴ x=50.........divide both sides by 2

 

So the numerator (of the fraction with denominator 100) is 50.

 

       1/2=0.5....in decimal form

50/100=0.5....in decimal form

 

Both fractions are equivalent because both decimal values are

the same.  Therefore, both fractions are the same.
