What is the answer ?

The Chuckle Brothers have 20 pounds worth of change in a bag. When they split it, Paul should get 1 pound less than Barry. Knowing this, how much money does Barry need to take in order for him to get EXACTLY 1 pound more than Paul?

x  =  number of lbs Barry gets

 

x-1  = number of lbs Paul gets

 

Then 2x-1 = 20  and x = 10.50  which is 1lb more than Paul's  9.50lbs
