Percentage word problem

A store sells CDs at 20% off the displayed price. The store buys copies of a CD for $12 each. If the store owner wants to make a 10% profit on the CDs, what price should she list for each CD?

KUJTIM S.

Let's mark with $x the price we have to set. The purchase price is $12. We want to earn 10%, so 12x0.1=1.2 So the price is 12+1.2=13.3, but we have to sell it with a 20% discount. So the equation is: x-0.2x=13.2, so x=$16.50
