The question is asking you to divide the total gas used by the gas used each hour. . . gallons/(gallons/hour) = hours

 

3 1/4 divided by 3/10

 

first change the mixed fraction into an improper fraction--> 13/4

 

13/4 divided by 3/10

 

Flip the second fraction and multiply--> 13/4 x 10/3 = 130/12= 10.83 hours
