If i bought three adult tickets and one child's ticket to a movie for $19.90. Jess bought two adult tickets and five chid's tickets for $29.30.

(2) : 2x +5y =29.30

Solving the equation system:

From (1): x= (19.9 -y)/3.  Then plug in (2)

2((19.9-y)/3) + 5y =29.30

13.27 - 0.6 y +5y = 29.30

5.6 y = 16.03

y = 16.03/5.6 = $2.86 child's ticket price and

From (2)

2x +5(2.86) =29.30

2x = 15

x = $7.5 adult's ticket price

3x+y=19.9
