We want to find out how many pies each person will get. Since there are less pies than there are people, no single person will get a whole pie equally.
Divide 4 by 6. This can written as a fraction.
4 / 6
This can be reduced to 2/3. This means that each person gets 2/3 of a pie equally.
To check this, we add 2/3 to itself 6 times. This is because we have 6 people.
2/3 + 2/3 + 2/3 + 2/3 + 2/3 + 2/3 = 12 / 3 = 4
The total comes out to be 4. That will be 4 pies, the original amount.
