 I need help with this question im very confused im suppose to use distributive property

Maybe you could do this:

 

Factor out the greatest common factor (3). Then do the subtraction problem in the parenthesis. Then multiply.

3(8) - 3(5) = 3(8 - 5) = 3(3) = 9

Dear Madison,

     I don't see your question, but here is the distributive property:  a(a+b)  = a*a  +  a* b

 

For example,  10(30 +16)=  10* 30 + 10 * 16    This is writing the problem distributively.

                                          300 +  160= 460     Here is your simplification.
