2x2+4x + 4 = 0
We can factor a 2 out of each coefficient and the constant
2(x2 + 2x + 2) = 0
Dividing both sides by 2 reduces your equation to
x2+ 2x + 2 = 0
a = 1, b= 2, c = 2
x = [-b ±√(b2-4ac)]/2a from quadratic equation
x = [-2 ±√[22-4(1)(2)]]/(2)(1)
= [-2 ±√(4-8)]/2
= [-2 ±√(-4)]/2
= (-2 ± 2i)/2
= -1 ± i
