4 fair coins are simultaneously flipped and 1 fair 4 sided die ( with numbers 1-4) is tossed. What is the probability that the number of heads is equal to the number that comes up on the die?

Here is your sample space for the coins and the die

 

HHHH1
HHHH2

HHHH3

HHHH4 (4 HEADS)

 

HHHT1

HHHT2

HHHT3 (3 HEADS)

HHHT4

 

Continue this pattern until you get to ....HHTT2 (2 HEADS).......... TTTT3 and the last one TTTT4

 

Then go through all your sample space and underline (OR JUST COUNT) the "desired" outcomes like I just did above. Then divide that number by your total possible outcome 4! (for the coins) times 4 (for the die) 4*3*2*4
