(1) Parallel to y=4x-11,through (3,8)
(2) Parallel to x=-5,through (-6,-4)

1) Since the two lines are parallel, they have the same slope. So, the equation can be written as

y = 4x+b

Now, you plug in (3,8),

8 = 4*3+b => b = -4

Answer: y = 4x-4

 

2) Since the two lines are parallel, both lines are vertical lines. So, the equation is x = -6.

Answer: x = -6
