What are the two kinds of artists?

 I know one of them is the kind that can draw things by just looking at them (Visual artist). But what is the other type of artist? The kind that can draw things from their imagination?

I believe you are referring to abstract artists which typically create art from their imagination.

Hello there. I have not heard artists categorized into two types; I would reference your text or class notes to be sure what directive was given from your specific class. There are many possibilities, such as Visual Artist (yes, you got that right!), and Performance Artist.

Visual Artist: Sculpture, Painting, Ceramics, Graphic Design, Drawing, etc.

Performance Artist: Singing, Dancing, Theater, Performance Art, etc.

 

You will notice that writing is not usually included in either.

Artists are, plainly, people who create things. Musicians create music, and sculptors create objects from physical materials. Writers create works from words, and illustrators can bend their imagination onto paper. Differentiation of artists typically delineates from their respective field of study or work. Visual artists can be painters, illustrators, photographers, sculptors, etc.; anything you see that somebody has created can be considered a visual art. Art, however, is usually more culturally specific. Without going too far into things, a toilet removed from a bathroom stall can be considered art as much as any commercial or community-based artwork.
