Suppose that the mean height of 10th grade boys is 69 inches with a standard deviation of 2 inches and that it follows a normal distribution. Using the empirical rule, determine the percentage of 10th grade boys with height between 67 and 73 inches.

67 and 73 inches are 1 standard deviation.

 

The empirical (68-95-99.7) rule says that 68% of the population of 10th grade boys have heights in this range.
