Yes, Mark is correct - your year of birth must be odd since, the integer (n) and the consecutive one is (n +1).
so n + (n+1)= year of your birth
2n + 1= year of birth.
But the year of birth must be odd so you can subtract one and still divide by two to get an integer.
For me, I was born in 71.
2n+1=71
2n=70
n=35, n+1=36
Let's say you were born in 99
2n=98
n=49 n+1=50
