Let's define all of our variables. Amy will be x, Jenny will be y, and Julie will be e; b will be total number of bracelets.
Here's what we know:
e = 3x
y = e + 1
b = x + y + e
Let's put in our variable values:
b = x + (e + 1) + 3x
b = x + 3x + 1 + 3x
Now we combine our like terms:
b = 7x + 1
That's as far as I can help you from here. Without a total number of bracelets, we cannot figure out how many each made. However, if you have that number yourself, you can solve that for yourself.
