Based on the inequality, we know that the third side is 3x.
We solve the inequality as if we were solving an equation.
(x + 5) + 40 > 3x
x + 45 > 3x
Subtract x on both sides of the inequality.
45 > 2x
Divide both sides of the inequality by 2.
22.5 > x
This is the same as saying
x < 22.5
So the values of x for this triangle is all numbers less than 22.5
