If the area of a parallelogram is 4x +16 write a expression for the base

4(x + 4) = 4x + 16

 

 

So the base can be either

 

base = (4x + 16) / (x + 4)             or

 

base = (4x + 16) / 4

 

depending on the dimension's orientation.

For a parallelogram:

 

      Area = base*height

 

Divide both sides of the equation by height:

 

      Area/height = base

 

Since the area is 4x+16, substitute it for the Area:

 

      (4x+16)/height = base
