These 4 rules have a domain of all real numbers because they are continuous. Domain means the set of x values in which the rule is defined. So you can plot each of these rules by plugging in any x value on a coordinate system. Since we have an infinite number of x values to choose from, lets use the interval
-5 ≤ x ≤ 5
to start off with.
Plug in the x values using the interval and evaluate for y. Remember, the points will be in the form (x, y). You will plot these points. Once you have all of the points, connect them in the pattern the points make.
I will do part of the first one for you to show how it is done.
1)
y = (-5)2 - 3
y = 25 - 3
y = 22
First point is (-5, 22).
y = (-4)2 - 3
y = 16 - 3
y = 13
Second point is (-4, 13).
y = (-3)2 - 3
y = 9 - 3
y = 6
Third point is (-3, 6).
Ok. I leave the rest to you.
