Ok so lets first decide what our Length and Width are. Since they've given us information based on the width, that will be our variable in the equation-

Width= w

Length= w+3

 

A perimeter can be found by adding all sides- Width + width + length + length. So, 2W+2L. Now let's write that in terms of our variable w-

 

2w+2(w+3)=30

 

2w+2w+6=30

 

4w+6=30

 

4w=24

 

w=6

 

Our Width is 6 and our Length is 9
