Length of the three sides

Question

The perimeter of a triangle is 21cm. If two sides are unequal length, and the their side is 3cm longer than one of the equal sides, find the length of the three sides.

If I'm reading this correctly we have a triangle with

2 equal sides, and a 3rd side which is 3 cm longer

than the other 2.   The perimeter is 21 cm.

 

1st side = A

2nd side = B = A

3rd side = C = A+3

 

A + B + C = 21

A + A + A + 3 = 21

3A + 3 = 21

3A = 18

A = 6cm

 

two sides are length 6 cm and the 3rd side is 9 cm
