The Slope-Intercept Form of the Equation of a Line looks like:
y = mx + b
where m is the slope and b is the y-intercept (the value of y when x=0).
With y=-3x + 1 the slope is -3.
A slope is sometimes describes as "rise over run." That is, how much does the line "rise" as x increases ("runs"). This line goes down 3 units for each increase in x, so it resembles an expert snow "run" -- and clearly good enough for an exciting rollercoaster.
If you graph the line, use the easy points for x=0 and x=1 to calculate y values.
