cos(t)<0. means angle is in Q ii. Or Q iii
 
cot(t)<0.    means angle lies in Q ii
 
So,angle is in Q ii

Don't forget that cos(t) < 0 also lies on Q iv.

cos(t)<0.     DOES NOT lie in Q iv
 
cot(t)<0.      does lie in Q iv. but cos(t)<0  does not lie in Q iv , so not acceptable.
